Odor Removal

Find the Source. Remove the Odor.

Unpleasant vehicle odors can come from more than what you see on the surface. Smoke, rodents, biological contamination, spills, vandalism, and other sources can leave odors behind in carpeting, upholstery, ventilation systems, and other areas of a vehicle.

At Bailey’s Reconditioning, our odor removal process focuses on identifying and addressing the source of the odor—not simply covering it up with fragrances.

What Can Cause Vehicle Odors?

Every vehicle is different, which is why we begin by evaluating the condition of the vehicle and looking for potential sources of the odor.

Our team can inspect vehicles affected by or showing signs of:

  • Mice and other rodent activity
  • Rodent nests and debris
  • Urine and feces
  • Cigarette and tobacco smoke
  • Food and drink spills
  • Pet odors
  • Vandalism
  • Possible drug-related contamination or residue
  • Other persistent or unidentified odors

Finding the source is an important part of effective odor removal. Depending on the situation, contaminated materials may need to be thoroughly cleaned or addressed before additional odor treatments are performed.

Our Odor Removal Process

Odor removal is more than spraying a deodorizer inside the vehicle. Our approach may involve several services depending on the source and severity of the odor.

1. Vehicle Inspection
We inspect the vehicle to help identify where the odor is coming from and look for signs of contamination, rodent activity, vandalism, or other potential causes.

2. Complete Interior Detail
For the best results, we recommend a complete detail as part of the odor removal process. Carpeting, upholstery, interior surfaces, and other affected areas can hold odor-producing contaminants that need to be physically removed.

3. Address the Source
When possible, the source of the odor is removed or cleaned. Simply treating the air inside the vehicle will not permanently solve an odor if the original source remains.

4. Cabin Air Filter Replacement
We recommend replacing the vehicle’s cabin air filter when appropriate. Odors and contaminants can become trapped in the filter and continue circulating through the vehicle’s heating and air conditioning system.

5. Additional Odor Treatment
Depending on the type and severity of the odor, additional treatment may be recommended to help address odors that remain after cleaning.

Ozone Treatment

For persistent odors, ozone treatment is available as an additional service within our odor removal process.

Ozone can help treat difficult odors throughout the vehicle and is particularly useful for odors such as cigarette and tobacco smoke that can penetrate upholstery, carpeting, and other interior materials.

Ozone treatment works best as part of a complete odor removal process. We recommend first identifying and cleaning the source of the odor, completing the necessary interior detailing, and replacing contaminated filters when appropriate. Ozone can then be used as an additional treatment for lingering odors.

A Complete Approach to Odor Removal

There is no single treatment that works for every vehicle or every odor. The most effective solution may involve a combination of inspection, source removal, a complete interior detail, cabin air filter replacement, and ozone treatment.

Our team will evaluate your vehicle and recommend the services appropriate for its condition rather than simply attempting to mask the smell.
